Don't Give Up...
Do you have a huffy and moody hedgehog...
Between people coming here to see their new hedgies and talking to people through email or in person, I am finding that a lot of people once loved hedgies but soon found them to be grumpy or didn't like how they roll up into a ball.
This saddens me. Why? Because Hedgehogs truly make wonderful pets if given the right start in life and continued attention. Even with not such a great start, with determination, you can help make your hedgehog loveable again.
Some ways to encourage the bonding experience or to turn your HMH into a loveable one again:
I recommend putting in a t-shirt you have worn into their cage, in order for them to get used to your smell.
Also, bathe them, and wrap them up in a nice FLEECE blanket and watch some tv.
Encourage SUPERVISED exploration. Ensuring you have a safe area for your hedgehog to roam, allow him or her to do so, as they love to explore. However, emphasis on SUPERVISED
Keep in mind, when hedgehogs are quilling (Getting in new quills) this itself can make them moody so be understanding and patient.
So Don't give up on them, find help. Feel free to email me anytime and I will respond within a few days if not less.
